PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team dropped its Ivy League opener 4-1 to Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The Quakers lone victory came from
Gavriella Smith at #3 singles.
Princeton opened the match earning the doubles point with a 6-1 win at #3 doubles and then clinched the point at #1 doubles with a 6-2 victory.
Sabine Rutlauka's streak of 11-straight wins at #1 singles came to an end on Saturday as she defaulted with her match tied 1-1 in the opening set.
Gavriella Smith provided Penn's only win of the afternoon as she won 6-2, and 6-0 to pull the Quakers within one. The visitors closed out the match and the victory earning wins at #2 and #5 singles.
