McLaughlin Being Inducted To Father Judge Hall of Fame In May

PHILADELPHIA – Add another honor to a long list of accolades for Mike McLaughlin, head coach of the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team, as he will be inducted into the Father Judge High School Hall of Fame in May.

With the acknowledgement, McLaughlin will now be in four different Hall of Fame classes, joining the Holy Family Hall of Fame in 2019, the CACC Hall of Fame in 2016, and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

A 1984 graduate of Father Judge, McLaughlin held the team to a 27-5 record in Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) boys' basketball during his junior and senior seasons. The Crusaders advanced to the PCL finals in both 1982 and 1983.

He then went on to his collegiate playing career at Holy Family where he compiled 1,710 point and 755 assists before playing three seasons after graduation with the Washington Generals/Harlem Globetrotters.

His coaching career started up at his alma mater, helping Holy Family to a 407-61 record over the course of 14 seasons, earning six CCAC tournament titles and being named Coach of the Year seven times.

McLaughlin took the helm of the Quaker program in 2009, transforming the program into a consistent Ivy League title contender, winning four championships and making three NCAA tournaments. He has totaled 228 wins at Penn, the most in program history, bringing his coaching career tally to 635. Earning his 600th win in 2019-20, he currently ranks 16th among active Division I coaches in career wins.

This season, his team went 17-12, earned a spot in the Ivy League tournament, and continued the postseason in the Women's NIT for the fourth time in program history.

The Father Judge Hall of Fame ceremony is set for Thursday, May 11, as he'll be one of eight being inducted as the Class of 2023.
