PHILADELPHIA – The No. 24 University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team returns to Franklin Field for the first since the season opener on February 18, taking on No. 10 Maryland on Wednesday evening.

SERIES AGAINST MARYLAND
*The Quakers are meeting the Terps for the 29th time in program history. Maryland has won 26 of the matchups including the last 13.
*Both of Penn's wins took place at Franklin Field, the last in 2007 when the Quakers edged out a 9-7 decision.
*Of the 28 games, 12 have been at Franklin Field, but this is the first since 2018.
LAST TIME WE MET
*The two squads met last season in College Park with the Terps earning a 15-11 win.
*Maryland, at that time #3 in the country, jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first four minutes and concluded the opening frame with a 7-1 lead.

ABOUT THE TERPS
*Maryland enters the game with a 7-3 record, riding a four-game win streak after opening Big Ten play this past Saturday with a 16-8 victory over then-#22 Rutgers.
*The Terps are 2-3 in top-25 matchups this season.
*With 14 NCAA championships in program history, Maryland nearly added the 15th last year before falling in the national semifinals to Boston College, 17-16.
*A familiar face will be wearing a different shade of red in the game, as Abby Bosco (Penn '21) returns to Franklin Field for the first time as the Terps' first-team All-American on the backline. She leads the team with 18 caused turnovers and 21 ground balls, while pulling in 42 draw controls.
PENN'S LAST TIME OUT
*Penn wrapped up a five-game road trip on Saturday, remaining unblemished in Ivy League play with a 16-13 victory at Harvard.
*The Quakers used a 10-1 stretch in the second half to roll to their fourth win of the season behind offensive efforts from senior
Niki Miles and sophomore
Anna Brandt. Miles led the team with six points on four goals and two assists, while Brandt added a tied career-high five goals.
*Penn had 11 different scorers in the contest, including the first goal of the season for
Julia Chai.

Sophie Davis led the backline with a game-high two caused turnovers and a tied team-high three ground balls.

Kelly Van Hoesen put together a six-save outing through 60 minutes of work.
QUAKER NOTES
*A typical Penn lacrosse schedule, the team is lined up for a competitive 2023 campaign that includes seven top-25 opponents according to the IWLCA preseason ranking. They have already battled then-No. 16 Johns Hopkins, then-No. 8, and then-No. 22 Jacksonville. The season still has No. 8 Florida on the road, while hosting No. 10 Maryland, No. 14 Yale, and No. 17 Princeton.
*Penn returned nine of its top 10 scorers from last season, six of whom had 20-plus points led by Miles with 34 (15 goals, 19 assists).
*The freshman presence is already being felt on the team, as freshman
Patricia Columbia-Walsh has 15 points through six games. Her first collegiate game against La Salle saw her score twice with three assists, and she has contributed points in every game since.
*Miles leads the squad with 20 points including 16 goals so far this year, while Brandt sits 36th in Division I with teammate Moon in free-position goals per game with 0.83.
*A stout defensive third for the Quakers is ranked in several categories in the nation. Penn ranks 29th in caused turnovers per game (9.50), second in ground balls per game (21.33), and 27th in scoring defense (10.00 goals allowed).

Karin Corbett is in her 24th season at the helm, owning 244 of the program's 397 wins.
