ABOUT THE BLUE JAYS
*The Blue Jays started the season 1-1 and are now taking on Penn at home before kicking off a five-game road trip through the first half of March.

*Hopkins opened its season on February 12, defeating Albany, 17-10. Megan Kielbasa and the Blue Jays were able to break into a six-goal run that went on for nearly 13 minutes after Kielbasa scored back-to-back goals in 84 seconds.

*This past Saturday, they traveled to intercity rival. No. 9 Loyola, dropping a tight 12-10 decision. The Greyhounds outscored the Blue Jays, 6-3, in the second half, while Maeve Barker's four-goal performance was spoiled on the road.

*Georgie Gorelick leads the offense through two games with six goals on seven shots, and the backline is paced by Reagan O'Brien with nine caused turnovers.

*Back in the cage, Maggie Tydings has started both games, maintaining a 9.72 goals-against average while making 12 saves.

*The Quakers have won their last 10 season openers. This year, they defeated La Salle 21-1 to start the 2023 campaign.

*A typical Penn lacrosse schedule, the team is lined up for a competitive 2023 campaign that includes seven top-25 opponents according to the IWLCA preseason ranking. Including the game against the Blue Jays, Penn hits the road for five straight games including now-#16 Johns Hopkins, #8 Loyola Maryland, and #24 Jacksonville. They'll also take on #7 Florida on the road, while hosting #6 Maryland, #21 Yale, and #17 Princeton.

*The matchups against Jacksonville and Florida will be the first trips for the Quakers to the Sunshine State in program history. Â

*Penn returns nine of its top 10 scorers from last season, six of whom had 20-plus points led by senior Miles with 34 (15 goals, 19 assists).

*Sophomore Brandt returns after a successful first season in 2022, playing in all 15 games and leading the team in scoring. Brandt paced the offense with 24 goals, and opened the first game this season with five.
