WBB Returns To Big 5 Action Tuesday At Villanova

PHILADELPHIA – Although back in Philly, the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team continues its four-game road trip on Tuesday night at the Finneran Pavilion, taking on Villanova for the third Big 5 contest of the season. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

The Series Against Villanova
• Tuesday's matchup will mark the 49th time in series history with the Wildcats holding a 45-3 advantage.
 
• The Quakers have won twice at the Pavilion, most recently in January 2018, 79-77.
 
• Anna Ross scored her final two points of an 11-point outing on the game-winning layup with just a second left for the win.
 
• Eleah Parker, a freshman at the time, finished with a game-high 25 points and nine boards.
 
• Villanova is on a four-game winning streak against the Quakers, although two of those games were decided by single-digit points.
 
• Playing the past two years against the Wildcats in The Palestra, Villanova took the 67-41 decision over Penn last season.
 
About The Wildcats
• Villanova enters with a 5-2 record, most recently falling to Ivy League foe Columbia on Sunday in New York City. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Wildcats.
 
• Lucy Olsen, who currently leads the team in scoring at 26 points per game, led all players against the Lions with 33 points. It was her 11th 20-plus point performance of her career and her second-highest scoring output this season. She has scored at least 30 points in her past two outings.  
 
• Christina Dalce leads the team in rebounding at 11.4 per game and in blocks with 2.1.
 
• Bella Runyan and Olsen command the offense, combining for over 8.5 assists per game.
 
• Tuesday's game will mark the second Big 5 game of the season for the Wildcats, defeating Temple back on November 19, 90-62.
 
Penn's Last Time Out
• The Quakers spent last weekend in Milwaukee, clashing with No. 23 Marquette in the Al McGuire Center. A third-quarter push by the Golden Eagles was enough to separate the teams, taking the 87-52 decision.
 
• For the second time this season, freshman Mataya Gayle put together a 20-plus game, finishing with a game-high 23 points. She set a season-best 25 points at Siena in November. For the game, she shot 9-for-22 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Additionally, she had a team-high three steals.
 
• Senior captain Jordan Obi knocked in 17 points with five rebounds and a game-high three blocks. She's up to 16 blocks for the season, most in the Ivy League.
 
• Junior Stina Almqvist had a team-high four assists, while senior captain Floor Toonders pulled in a team-high seven rebounds in her second game back.
 
Stat Leaders
•Almqvist leads the Quakers in points (17.5) and rebounds (6.8) per game. She sits fourth in the Ivy League in scoring and fifth in rebounding.
 
• Obi leads Penn and the Ivy League in blocks with 16, with the next closest player in the conference sitting at 12.
 
• Obi and Gayle are tied for fourth in the Ivy League in steals per game (2.0).
 
• Gayle leads the Red and Blue in assists (2.9), landing 10th in the league.
 
• Penn is third in points per game (69.5) and second in field goal percentage (.426).
