The La Salle Series
• Dating back to 1973, this will be the 50th time these two programs will meet as the Explorers lead the all-time series, 36-13.

• The Quakers have won seven of their last 10 meetings against the Explorers, outscoring La Salle by double digits in six of those seven wins.

• Penn has hosted La Salle in The Palestra 26 times. The Explorers have won 17 of the matchups.

• The Quakers' longest win streak against the Explorers was four games between 2012-16. La Salle had a 17-game win streak from 1984-99.

Last Time We Met
• The Quakers secured a 72-59 victory at Tom Gola Arena last season, paced by Simone Sawyer with a 24-point effort. She added seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

• Jordan Obi added a 20-point performance, going a consistent 10-for-13 from the floor. It was a career high for field goals against a Division I opponent.

• The Quakers totaled 23 assists in the game, at that point the most since December 7, 2019, when Penn defeated Stetson, 81-41, in The Palestra.

• Penn forced the Explorers into 22 turnovers, converting them into 21 points.

• Stina Almqvist anchored the Red and Blue defensive as she had a career- and game-high four steals to go with six points and six rebounds.

About The Explorers
• La Salle enters the contest with a 3-2 record, defeating Rider (72-44) on the road last Tuesday.

• In its last meeting with Rider, La Salle had two players in double figures as Gabby Turco scored a team-high 16 points on 70-percent shooting and Makayla Miller finished with 13 on 50-percent shooting.

• The Explorers didn't give Rider any breathing room as they racked up eight steals and five blocks as a team. They pestered the Broncs, forcing them to shoot 24 percent from the floor (14-58).

• La Salle has a defensive mentality, averaging 3.6 blocks and 9.2 steals per game while only allowing 58 points per game to its opponents this season.

• They ended last season with a record of 17-14, winning 10 of their 13 games at home, their best overall record since the 2016-17 season. They wrapped their season in the A-10 first round, falling to George Mason, 64-58.

Penn's Last Time Out
• The Quakers ended their west coast trip with a win over UC San Diego on Sunday, 76-68, and remain undefeated in the all-time series against the Titans (2-0).

• For the third time this season, four Quakers finished in double figures for scoring: Obi, Mataya Gayle, Lizzy Groetsch, and Abby Sharpe.

• Obi led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, scoring 18 in the first half on a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. She added a career- and game-high four blocks, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. She leads the Ivy League in steals per game (2.7) and is the only Ivy League player with double-digit blocks this season with 12.

• After earning her first collegiate Ivy League Rookie of the Week last Monday, Gayle continued to make an impact as she scored 12 points to pair up with her game-high five assists.

• Groetsch had a near double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. This is the second game this year she has tied her career high in boards as she had nine in the season opener against Marist.

• Sharpe had a perfect offensive night, shooting 4-for-4 from the floor with two three-pointers off the bench. She also grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists.

• Ese Ogbevire earned her first collegiate start against UCSD, scoring nine points with three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

A Look Ahead
• The Quakers are back on the road for another four-game road trip as they face Marquette (Dec. 3), Villanova (Dec. 5), Merrimack (Dec. 8), and Temple (Dec. 10).

• Penn returns to The Palestra on December 30 and December 31 to end 2023 against Maine and Gwynedd Mercy, in that order. Both games are set for 1 p.m., tips.
