Ginger Fontenot Headlines All-Ivy Honors for Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA- The Ivy League announced its women's soccer postseason honors on Wednesday afternoon, and University of Pennsylvania senior defender Ginger Fontenot was honored with first-team All-Ivy distinction. Additionally, senior Maya Leschly landed on the academic team.

Ivy League 2023 All-Ivy Release

This is Fontenot's first time earning first-team All-Ivy recognition, after she earned second-team honors in 2022.

Fontenot played the fifth-most minutes on the team, starting all 13 matches in which she took the field this season. She helped anchor a back line that limited opposing teams to one or fewer goals in 14-of-16 matches. Fontenot also led a defense that gave up the third fewest goals in the Ivy League, allowing only 0.81 goals per game. Fontenot recorded four shots this year, including three in Penn's match at Temple on September 17 with two of them being on target.
