PHILADELPHIA – After an incredible bounce-back win, the University of Pennsylvania sprint football team returns to Franklin Field Saturday night to take on Chestnut Hill, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

The Quakers (2-2, 1-1 CSFL South) are looking to seal up an official spot in the CSFL South Division title game against Navy next Friday night with a victory over the Griffins (1-4, 1-2 CSFL South).

The Griffin Series
The Quakers lead the all-time series against the Griffins 5-2, with their last win coming in 2022 in a 9-6 victory. The Red and Blue are 3-1 when playing Chestnut Hill at home and have been dominant at Franklin Field so far this season, winning both of their games against Cornell and Saint Thomas Aquinas. Penn came up short in its last meeting with the Griffins earlier this season in Conshohocken, falling 27-10 in the season opener.

The Quakers came up big in the fourth quarter, putting up 14 unanswered points and making critical defensive stops to help secure the victory two Fridays ago vs. STAC. The offense was led by junior quarterback
Ty Scherer, rushing 15 times for 55 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown using his legs. The defense held strong as the Quakers recorded nine TFLs with juniors
Cam Janock and
Jordan Ortiz leading the way with two each. Junior
Matt Kentra finished with a team-high nine total tackles (seven solos) including three straight tackles on the last drive to secure the win.

Opponent Insight
Chestnut Hill enters the weekend with a 1-4 record, currently on a four-game losing streak. Its last matchup was against Navy in a 48-7 defeat. The Griffins average 287.4 yards per game while allowing 386.4 yards. They have a balanced rushing and receiving game with four running backs averaging 30+ yards per game and four receivers that average 40+ yards.

Josh Johnson currently ranks second in the CSFL for kick return yards (185), while slotted sixth in punt returns (26). Defensively,
Charles Tauckus has a team-high 29 total tackles which ranks 12th in the league, followed by

Gavin Griswold (27) in 18th.

Jerry McConnell. Last season, the Quakers went 3-4 overall and once again competed for a CSFL South division crown right until the final whistle.
