PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team will send six players to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Super Regional at Princeton this weekend. The Super Regional will run from Friday to Monday and features both singles and doubles competition.
Senior

Gangoli, Vakili and Bharadwaj all advanced to the Super Regional through their play at the ITA Northeast Regional, which was hosted by Penn. In the Round of 16, Vakili defeated Carl Gustavson of St. John's 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, Bharadwaj took down Drexel's Alan Jesudason 6-3, 4-0 (ret.), and Gangoli defeated NJIT's Will Jenkins 6-3, 7-6 (3) to finish in the final eight and punch their tickets. Graziani had already clinched a trip to Supers in singles based on his regional ranking prior to the competition.
As for doubles, the pairings of Gangoli/Bharadwaj and Vakili/Sandler solidified their spot at the Regional as two of the final four remaining teams. During the quarterfinals Gangoli/Bharadwaj defeated NJIT's Perez Ramos/Lopez 8-3, while Vakili/Sandler took down Niagara's Bedard/Masi 8-5.
The duo of Graziani and Lim had already clinched their spot in the doubles bracket at Supers due to their regional ranking.Â
In the round of 32 singles, Bharadwaj will take on Alex Kotzen (Columbia) at 11:30 a.m. Two Penn players are slated for 1 p.m. matches, Vakili facing Daniils Snaiders (University at Buffalo) and Graziani against NJIT's Pablo Perez Ramos. Gangoli will face off against Yujiro Onuma (Dartmouth) at 2:30 p.m.
If either advances to the Round of 16, Bharadwaj and Vakili will compete on Saturday at 1 p.m. and there is a chance they could go head-to-head for a trip to the quarterfinals. If Graziani and Gangoli advance to the Round of 16 they will also compete on Saturday at 1 p.m.
