Six Program Top-10 Marks Set At Wesley A. Brown Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Pennsylvania track and field teams traveled south for the two-day Wesley A. Brown Invitational this weekend, hosted by the Naval Academy, as five different Quakers hit top-10 marks in program history along with a successful 4x400 race on the women's side.

On the men's side, Dimitri Nicholson, Jake Rose and Alec Jackson all put together performances that moved them up the record book. Nicholson clocked a time of 6.81 in the 60m for fourth place, moving him into third in program history.

Rose, in the 60m hurdles, crossed the finish line in 8.12 for sixth in history. Earning the victory in the race was freshman Shane Gardner, hitting a mark of 7.93, just .02 off his personal record set last weekend.

Jackson led a group of three Quakers in the top five of the 500m, crossing in second place with a time of 1:03.98, good enough to place him 10th in history. Robbie Ruppel (1:04.08) and Devante Heywood (1:05.55) came through in third and fourth, respectively.

The other program marks were set on the women's side. In the 500m, Isabella Whittaker earned a top finish with a time of 1:13.78 to move into eighth in program history, while Jocelyn Niemiec followed her in for second with a time of 1:14.15 for 10th in the record book. Aliya Garozzo collected a third-place finish in the race, coming through just shy of Niemiec with a time of 1:14.45.

Whittaker and Niemiec teamed up with Moforehan Abinusawa and Caia Gelli in the 4x400m relay as well, earning first in the event with a time of 3:43.05, a mark that lands fourth in program history.

The Quakers had plenty of other success through the meet with an additional three other victories. In the women's 60m hurdles, Katherine Muccio earned first with a time of 8.68. On the infield for the men, Kampton Kam collected the top spot in the high jump with a clearance of 2.08m, while James Rhoads earned first at the pole vault with a height of 5.15m.

Penn returns to the Keystone state next weekend for its next meet of the indoor season, traveling to Happy Valley for the Penn State National. The two-day event starts on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
