PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer program is set for a pair of matches at the end of this week. First up for the Red and Blue is a trip up the Main Line to Villanova on Thursday for its first road match of the season. Penn then will return home for a Sunday match against Lehigh.

The Series with Villanova
Thursday's meeting between the Quakers and Wildcats will be the 16th in series history. Villanova holds an all-time 11-3-1 record in the matchup. Penn has turned the series around having won the last three meetings. Last season, the Red and Blue took a 2-0 victory at Rhodes Field.
Lauren Teuschl and
Sizzy Lawton both scored a goal and assisted on each other's finishes.
About Villanova
Villanova has opened the 2022 season at 0-2-1. Its season opened with a 2-0 loss at Boston College. The Wildcats rebounded for a 1-1 draw in their home opener against Delaware but is coming off a 1-0 home loss to Rider. The Wildcats' lone goal of the season came in the 26th minute against Delaware but the Blue Hens responded with goal in the final 20 seconds of the first half.
The Series with Lehigh
Sunday's meeting between the Quakers and Mountain Hawks will be the 20th match in series history. Penn holds the series, 15-3-1. At Lehigh in 2021, the Quakers earned a 2-1 victory in double overtime. Since 2011, Penn is 3-2-1 against the Mountain Hawks.
About Lehigh
Lehigh has opened the season with a pair of losses. They dropped the season opener 3-0 to Monmouth before falling 3-2 to Drexel. Prior to their trip to University City, the Mountain Hawks head to Newark to take on the Delaware Blue Hens on Thursday.
Quaker Notemeal
*2022 will mark the first season that the college soccer regular season will not feature overtime. The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved changes to the
overtime rules for men's and women's soccer.
*Last week marked the debut of Dr. Turner at the helm of the Penn Women's Soccer program.
*Through two matches, senior captain
Sizzy Lawton has the only points on the Penn roster in 2022. Her goal against Maryland came via a freekick in the 33rd minute.
*For the 2022 season, Penn will play all home soccer matches before September 12 on Rhodes Field. Following that date, all Penn home soccer matches will be played at Penn Park.
*In addition to a completely new coaching staff, the 2022 roster features eight new faces: forwards
Clare Robke,
Anuli Okafor and
Kaia Chambers; midfielders
Sarah Sullivan and
Mallory Lucas; defenders
Chloe Skipper and
Rachel Herman; and goalkeeper
Annabel Austen.
*Four seniors will hold the captain title for the 2022 season: Lawton,
Emily Pringle,
Peyton Raun, and
Miranda Farman.
*Senior
Lucy Kellogg remains the lone member of Penn's last Ivy League championship squad in 2018.
*Dr. Turner completed her staff at the beginning of August with the hiring of
Fred King. Coach King will join Dr. Turner and
Megan Hinz on the sideline for the 2022 season. King joins the Quakers as the Associate Head Coach following a 10-year stint at Saint Joseph's University. Hinz was originally hired in the spring by previous head coach Casey Brown and retained by Dr. Turner.
