PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team is in 13th place after the first day of play at the Princeton Invitational. The 54-hole event is being contested on Old Nassau's par-71 Springdale Golf Club course.

The Quakers improved their team score by 16 strokes from Saturday's first round (302) to the second (286), ending the day at 20-over-par 588. The host Tigers are in first place with a 560 score through 36 holes, six shots ahead of Seton Hall (566) and 11 ahead of Temple (571).
Individually,
Mark Haghani had the steadiest day among Penn players as he shot a pair of 1-over-par 72s to finish the day at 144. He is tied for 28th in a field of 78 golfers.
Harrison Ornstein shot a first-round 79 but came back with the best round of the day by a Penn player in the afternoon, a 3-under-par 68. That left him at 147, tied for 43rd.
Jason Langer (78-72) and
John Richardson (73-77) both shot 150 on the day and are tied for 57th in the field, while
Anthony Basilio scored for Penn in the afternoon and ended the day at 153.
Princeton players hold down the top four spots on the individual board. William Huang leads the field after he shot 67-68 for a 7-under-par 135 Saturday. That has him four strokes ahead of teammates Jake Mayer, Sam Clayman, and Max Holm.
The 54-hole tournament will continue with a third and final round on Sunday morning.
