Penn-Cornell Series
The Quakers are meeting the Big Red for the 48th time in program history, holding a 30-17 lead in the all-time series. Over the past 10 matchups, Penn has one eight including the last two. On the road, the Quakers have proven successful with a 14-8 record at Cornell. Dating back to the first matchup in 1975, Penn has averaged 9.89 goals per game, totaling 465 over nearly five decades. The longest win streak was under Head Coach
Karin Corbett, bolstering 12-straight victories from 2007 to 2016. In that stretch of time, Penn won nine Ivy League championships.
Last Time We Met
The last matchup was on March 23, 2019, with the Quakers taking a slim 11-10 victory at Franklin Field. Penn stormed back from an 8-7 deficit in the second half to take an 11-7 lead and held off a late surge from Cornell.
Zoe Belodeau and Gabby Rosenzweig were the catalysts for the Quakers' offense, as the duo combined for seven of Penn's 11 goals, while Rosenzweig finished with two assists to post a team-high five points on the day. Mikaila Cheeseman finished with 10 saves in the net, including the game-winning stop with 55 seconds remaining.
About Cornell
The Big Red are 6-4 this season, 2-1 in Ivy competition entering Saturday's matchup. They earned a 23-8 victory over Columbia and a double overtime 10-9 win at Harvard. Their only loss in league play came at then-No. 10 Princeton back on March 5, dropping a close 13-12 decision. Cornell is averaging the second-most goals per game in the Ivy League with 14.80. Leading the offense is Amanda Cramer with 23 goals and six assists, while Sophie Ward has also reached the 20-goal mark of the season. Back in the net, Katie McGahan has started in all 10 games, maintaining a 11.39 goals-against average with 92 saves.
Penn's Last Time Out
The Quakers hosted No. 3 Northwestern on Sunday in Penn Park, falling 17-9. A successful draw game had Penn win 16 of the 30 behind
Kennon Moon with a team-high six and
Maria Themelis with five. The Quakers also went perfect on clears, 15-for-15. Offensively,
Anna Brandt and
Keeley Block led the team with three points each. Brandt registered her second career hat trick, while Block added two goals and an assist. In the net,
