PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team sent out its senior class with a 4-0 win over Cornell on Sunday. With a win in its final match of the 2022 regular season, Penn finished the season with a 5-2 record in Ivy League matches. It marked their seventh shutout, including three shutouts in Ivy play.
Finishing with a 15-9 overall record, 15 wins is the most in a season since the 2019 team went 16-5 and finished second in the Ivy League.
Prior to the match at the Hamlin Tennis Center, the team honored its two seniors,
Iuliia Bryzgalova and
Marija Curnic for their commitment and hard work during their Penn careers.
Amanda Chan and
Ekaterina Vinnik opened doubles play with a 6-3 win. The doubles duo of
Eileen Wang and
Sabine Rutlauka clinched the doubles point for the Quakers with a 6-2 win.
The Quakers earned singles wins by Bryzgalova,
Gavriella Smith, and
Amanda Chan to clinch the victory.
