PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team picked up a big win on Sunday afternoon at the Hamlin Tennis Center. The Red and Blue defeated #72 Harvard, 4-1. Penn improved to 4-1 in Ivy play and 14-8 overall in 2022. The Quakers handed the Crimson their second-straight loss following a 4-1 loss at #50 Princeton on Saturday. Penn has now won four straight Ivy League matches.
Penn took the early lead winning the doubles point as
Amanda Chan and Katerina Vinnik earned a 6-2 win on court three.
Marija Curnic and
Iuliia Bryzgalova clinched the doubles point for Penn with a 6-4 win on court one.
Sabine Rutlauka put Penn up 2-0 as she defeated her opponent 6-1 and 6-0.
Gavriella Smith put Penn up 3-0 as she won in straight sets by identical 6-3 scores. Harvard picked up its only win of the day on court five. Bryzgalova won in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2 to clinch the match point for the Quakers.
