How It Happened
Aly Feeley opened Saturday's score with a free-position goal from the left side, but Brown needed less than three minutes to level things. That's how the first quarter ended.

Kaitlyn Cumiskey scored quickly to start the second quarter, but once again Bruno had a quick response with a pair of goals 50 seconds apart to take a 3-2 lead. Maria Themelis tied it back up at 3-3, then scored two in a row after Brown took the lead again. The sophomore's first collegiate hat trick took 5:20 of game time and put Penn briefly in front, 5-4. The Bears tied things at 5-5 less than a minute after Themelis' third goal. That's how the half ended.

Brown drew first blood in the second half, scoring on a free-position shot just 2:03 into the period, but Taylyn Stadler scored a pair of goals 55 seconds apart—one from the left side, one from the right—which gave Penn a 7-6 lead. That set the Quakers off on a five-goal run, as Niki Miles charged from behind to power home her first of the day, fed Jiranek for a goal, and then Jiranek assisted Cumiskey's second of the day. At that point Penn's lead was 10-6, the five goals coming in just 4:53 of game time.

Brown got one of them back, but Penn responded with some tic-tac-toe passing to go up 11-7 after three quarters.

Anna Brandt extended Penn's lead quickly in the fourth with an absolute rifle inside the far post, and then Miles added her second of the day on the free-position for a 13-7 advantage. Those ended up being the only goals in the period as the Quakers salted this one away through possession.

Up Next
Penn is on the road twice over the next week, starting Wednesday with a short trip North to face archrival Princeton. The Quakers and Tigers will face off Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a game that will air live nationally on ESPNU.
