PHILADELPHIA – For the second straight year, the University of Pennsylvania sprint football participated in its annual Walk-a-Thon. This year the event took place on Sunday, April 10.
Several team members walked a 5K, starting just outside their locker room at the Hollenback Center and making a round-trip walk to the Art Museum. In the process, the team raised more than $9,000 for Cerebral Palsy research at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
"Our team is committed to giving back to the community, and on Sunday we completed our second annual Walk-A-Thon," said
Jerry McConnell, the program's William R. Wagner Head Coach of Sprint Football. "We doubled our donation total from a year ago, showing the kids' commitment to what is becoming an annual event. The team continues to amaze me—whatever we ask them to do, they are all in and they get it done."
