The Penn-Princeton Series
• The Quakers own a 126-118 record over the Tigers; that said, Princeton's 118 wins are more than any other Ivy League opponent has over Penn.
• Princeton has dominated the series for awhile now, winning five in a row, 13 of the last 15, and 21 of the last 25 matchups dating back to the 2008-09 season.
• Princeton's most recent win came on January 17, a 74-64 decision at Jadwin Gym. Ethan Wright led four Tigers in double figures with 14 points. For Penn,
Jelani Williams led the offense with 13 points,
Michael Moshkovitz Michael added 12, and
Clark Slajchert scored 10.
• The Tigers swept the season series in 2019-20, taking a 78-64 decision at The Palestra on January 4 and then a 63-58 victory just six days later in Jadwin Gym.
Penn MBB By the Numbers
1 • Player in program history who has put up four 30-point games in Ivy League play in the same season: sophomore
Jordan Dingle.
1 • Until two weekends ago, Penn player who had started every game this season: fifth-year senior co-captain
Jelani Williams;
quite a feat, considering that when Williams started the season opener at Florida State it was his first game in 1,789 days, dating back to his senior year at Sidwell Friends when he tore an ACL prior to Christmas. He hopes to rejoin the lineup in time for Ivy Madness.
1.95 • Junior
Michael Moshkovitz's assist/turnover ratio in Ivy League play (43/22), tops among Ivy players who average at least three assists per game.
5 • 30-point games by
Dingle this season;
the last Penn player with five 30-point games in the same season was the great Ernie Beck, who had five such games as a senior in 1952-53 and six such games as a junior in 1951-52.
5.4 • Points-per-game difference between Ivy League games (7.9) and non-conference games (2.5) this season for
Moshkovitz.
7 • Total number of points scored by freshman
Nick Spinoso in 11 appearances dating back to November 23 at Towson, before he dropped 11 points at Yale on February 18.
8 • Points scored in the 2021-22 season by senior
Bryce Washington, before he dropped 13 last Saturday at Dartmouth.
10 • Penn players who have at least one double-figure scoring game in Ivy League play this season;
overall this season, 12 different Quakers have at least one double-figure scoring game.
12 • Different starting lineups used by Penn so far this season; only 11 NCAA Division 1 schools have had more.
14.2 • Sophomore
Max Martz's points-per-game average over his last six appearances;
the sophomore—who missed Penn's home win over Harvard due to COVID protocols—is shooting 57.5 pct from the field over his last nine appearances (50-87) including a staggering 70.0 percent on two-point shots (35-50).
16.8 • Sophomore
Clark Slajchert's points-per-game average over Penn's last four games (15 vs. Harvard, 18 at Yale, 16 at Brown, 18 at Dartmouth);
over the Quakers' last 12 contests he has ten double-figure scoring games, a nine-point game, and an eight-point game.
20.1 • Dingle's overall points-per-game average entering the weekend, tops among Ivy players;
that is the ninth-best scoring average for a season in program history and the highest since Keven McDonald averaged 22.3 ppg in 1977-78.
21 • Double-figure scoring games for
Dingle this season, in 24 appearances;
he has nine points in the other three outings.
29 • Rebounds by junior co-captain
Lucas Monroe over the last four games (7 vs. Harvard, 7 at Yale, 9 at Brown, 6 at Dartmouth).
25.4 • Dingle's points-per game average over his last seven games;
he missed last Saturday's contest at Dartmouth.
47 • Years since a Penn player had back-to-back 30-point games, as
Dingle did against Yale and Harvard on January 22 and 28 (making him the first player in program history with consecutive 30-point Ivy League games);
Keven McDonald scored 35 points vs. Tennessee, then 32 one day later vs. Ohio State at the 1975 Sugar Bowl Classic.
53 • Three-point baskets by junior
Jonah Charles so far this season, against just six two-point baskets;
he had 14 points last Saturday at Dartmouth, hitting four treys in the game's final 3:27.
