Bats Stay Hot as Baseball Wins Seventh Straight, 16-6, Over Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA – All nine players in the starting lineup for the University of Pennsylvania baseball team finished with at least one hit, one run, and one RBI as the Quakers hit their way to a 16-6 win over Lehigh University on Wednesday afternoon from Meiklejohn Stadium, running their winning streak to seven games.

Penn (12-5) scored 10 runs between the sixth and eighth innings to break a 6-all tie, ending Lehigh's (12-7) six-game winning streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lehigh took a 1-0 lead two batters into the game on a solo home run, but Wyatt Henesler quickly gave Penn a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run shot, his seventh of the season. Cole Palis later delivered an RBI single and Seth Werchan brought in a run on a sacrifice fly, staking the Quakers a 4-1 lead.

Two runs in the top of the third got the Mountain Hawks back within one, but a Tommy Courtney RBI single and Henesler sac fly got Penn those runs back in the fourth. Lehigh tied the game in the fifth inning on a three-run double.

Penn blew the game open with six runs in the sixth inning. Craig Larsen put the Red and Blue back on top with a sacrifice fly. Werchan drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run and Nate Polo followed with a two-run single. With two men still on base, reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week Asa Wilson brought them both in with a double just inside the right field line.

The Quakers took advantage of some wild Lehigh pitching in the seventh, adding another run without registering a hit. With Penn up 14-6 in the eighth, Carson Ozmer knocked an RBI single the opposite way and Palis drove in another on a fielder's choice for the final runs of the game.
