DETROIT – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team opened competition at the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Thursday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Penn saw three of its nine wrestlers advance past the first round and eight of those nine are still competing. Sophomore
CJ Composto won both his bouts on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals on Friday morning. As a team, Penn sits in a tie for 15th place with Oklahoma State as both team have 11 points.
Three Quakers advanced to the second round of the championship brackets at 133, 141, and 149 pounds.
Michael Colaiocco (133) won by injury default, Composto (141) won by a 7-4 decision over Dylan Droegemueller (NDSU).
Anthony Artalona earned a 3-2 decision victory over Tariq Wilson (NC State).
