Men's Tennis Rallies for 4-3 Win Over Washington at San Diego Shakedown

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team rallied from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits for a 4-3 victory over the University of Washington at the San Diego Shakedown Thursday night.

Washington took the early doubles point, and the #3-ranked singles player in the ITA Collegiate Rankings, Clement Chidekh, knocked off Edoardo Graziani to put the Huskies up 2-0 early on.

After Baylor Sai picked up a straight-set win, the Huskies picked up another point, moving one win away from clinching the match, but the Quakers would rally in dramatic fashion at second, fifth, and fourth singles.

First, it was Jason Hildebrandt, who knocked off top-100 player Ewen Lumsden in straight sets for his first singles win of the California trip. Next, it was Harsh Parikh, who capped off his win with a definitive 6-1 third set to knot the match at three.

Finally, it was Kevin Zhu, who split the first two sets with Washington's Han-Chih Lin. The third set went to a tiebreaker, which Zhu won without dropping a point, capping Penn's comeback.
