The bottom of the first began just as the top half did with a lead off single. After a stolen base, Mo'ne Davis laid down a bunt and on a throwing error by the Quakers catcher, the Pirates base runner came around to score their first run of the game.
S. Schneider scored the fourth Quaker run in the top of the second on a base hit off the bat of J. Schneider.

Hampton tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI base hit from their catcher.
Dana Anderson came into pinch hit in the top of the fifth and promptly deposited one over the left field fence for her first round trip of her collegiate career.
Penn put the game away as it added three more runs in the top of the seventh. S. Schneider hit a two RBI double to left that scored both Waco and

Game 2 – Youngstown State 4, Penn 1
The nightcap was a far different story as they were unable to push a run across the plate until the seventh inning.
Youngstown State jumped out to an early lead. Fiorientino made the start in game two for Penn and got two quick outs then gave up a two-out solo shot to right.
The Penguins tacked on a single run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 4-0 lead.
While the bats did not go completely cold they were unable to do anything with the few hits they scattered across the first six innings.
It was not until the designated visitors made a pitching change entering the seventh inning that they mustered up a scoring chance.
Madison Bauerle hit a one-out base hit to right center to get things going in the bottom of the seventh. Back-to-back walks by
Alyssa Pope and
Brianna Brown loaded the bases with one out. S. Schneider followed suit as she also drew a walk to score Bauerle. Then out came the Youngstown State coach to make a pitching change and put his starter back in. She would get the necessary outs needed to get the win for her team as she struck out J. Schneider and forced Nedley to pop out to right field for the final out of the game.
