The Harvard Series
Out of most of their other Ivy opponents, Penn has played some memorable games against Harvard in recent seasons. The Quakers head into today looking for their first win over the Crimson since November 16, 2019 and their first home win against the team since November 11, 2016, the year they won the Ivy title. In a 23-7 win last year in Cambridge, Harvard won its 50th game all-tme against Penn and extended its series lead to 50-39-2.

Didn't See That Coming
The surprise of the season happened last Saturday as Columbia topped Harvard, 21-20, to claim its first Ivy win of the year. The Crimson led the Lions, 20-13, going into the fourth quarter, but a 25-yard pass from Caden Bell to Luke Painton with 9:11 to go sealed the deal in Cambridge. Aidan Borguet had another strong game on the ground with his 23 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown while Cooper Barkate caught five passes for 102 yards. Despite the defeat, the Harvard defense held Columbia to just 180 yards of total offense. The Crimson now have two losses with two games to go against Penn and Yale.

We Got The Cup!
The Trustees' Cup came back to University City on Saturday after Penn took down Cornell, 28-21, in Ithaca to earn its seventh victory of the season with two games to play. The win is the Quakers' seventh in the last eight years against the Big Red after falling last year at Franklin Field. The Red and Blue gained just 272 yards of total offense with 135 on the ground (along with 124 for Trey Flowers) while allowing 343 total yards to Cornell.

Guess Who's Back
Flowers made his triumphant return to the field Saturday after missing the last month due to injury. He ran 26 times for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Quakers to victory. Flowers has a pair of touchdowns in three consecutive games and has totaled seven to lead the team this year. He was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for his performance, Penn's first winner of the award this season so far.

Here Comes Trouble
Garrett Morris found himself all over the field once again against Cornell last Saturday, registering his second consecutive game with double-digit tackles. Morris tallied 10 against Cornell, one week after making a season-high 15 stops at Brown. Through eight games, he leads the team in total tackles (53) with a team high-tying 29 solo tackles. In addition to his tackling performance, Morris also recorded his first interception of the season, in which he returned 22 yards to give the Quakers great field position, setting up a Flowers TD run.

Among The Nation's Best
Penn has had a great season relative to the rest of FCS Football, currently holding down the fort in a variety of statistical leaderboards, especially on the defensive end. The Quakers are ranked first in fewest fumbles lost (0), third in team sacks (3.62), fourth in fourth down conversion defense (.227), fourth in first downs defense (133), fourth in tackles for a loss allowed (3.75), fourth in fewest turnovers lost (6), fifth in red zone defense (.667), fifth in red zone offense (.938) and fifth in team tackles for a loss (8.1)

Individual Success
Not only has the team proven to be successful on both sides of the ball among the rest of the country, but individual players have played strong football all season long. Julien Stokes is seventh in kick returns TDs (1), Kendren Smith ranks 10th in fumbles recovered (2), Jake Heimlicher is 10th in sacks per game (0.88) as well as 19th in tackles for loss per game (1.4), QB Aidan Sayin ranks 11th in completions per game (24.25) and Josh Casilli is 19th in receptions per game (6.0).

Home Sweet Home
The Quakers are just one win against Harvard shy of going undefeated at Franklin Field for the 2022 season. It would mark the first time Penn won all five games at home since 2010. That season, the Quakers went 9-1 overall with a perfect 7-0 Ivy record resulting in the program's 15th Ivy League title.

Last Time Out
The Quakers scored a second quarter touchdown, but that's all they could come up with in a 23-7 loss to the Crimson in Cambridge last season. It was Penn's first loss at Harvard since November 2013. On the TD drive in the second stanza, all 75 yards were gained on the ground culminating in Isaiah Malcome's 20-yard touchdown rush. Rory Starkey, Jr. led the team with seven catches for 62 yards including four grabs that turned into first downs. Penn recorded 11 TFLs as a team with both Prince Emili and Jonathan Melvin registering 2.5 each.

Special Seniors
The Quakers will honor their senior class with a pre-game ceremony prior to kickoff with the Crimson Saturday. 35 seniors will be honored along with 32 current players, two student assistants (JC Dobis and Travis Wang) and the student equipment manager (Jordyn Hall). There will be seven players honored for the second consecutive year after coming back for their fifth years of eligibility. Those players include Garrett Morris, Rory Starkey, Jr., Trey Flowers, Adam Conyer, Shane Sweitzer, Jake Heimlicher and Trevor Radosevich.
