Stiles Sets Program Record, WXC Finishes Third At NCAA Regionals

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams made the trek back up to Happy Valley on Friday for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, as junior Maeve Stiles led the women's squad to a third-place finish overall with a program record performance. The men earned eighth place led by senior captain Michael Keehan.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS (6K): 3rd place, 106 pts.

MEN'S RESULTS (10K): 8th place, 237 pts.

QUAKER NOTEMEAL
*Stiles' fourth place finish ties the best finish at regionals in program history, while her time of 20:15.3 is the top mark in program history. The last person to finish fourth was Maddie Villalba back in 2018 on the Penn State course with a time of 21:15.
 
*The women's team third place finish ties the best finish in program history, only with the 2016 squad that finished third at Penn State with 99 points.
 
*Murphy, in her first NCAA regional championship race, finished second in scoring for Penn, taking 16th place with a time of 20:49.0. Her time marks the fifth best in program history at regionals.
 
*Senior captain Bader also ran a sub-21-minute time, trimming off 18 seconds from her last time on the course back on September 9 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational.
 
*Morganti, finishing fourth in the group, clocked a time of 21:07.4 to set a new 6K personal record.
 
*The women's team finished third overall out of 26 teams.
 
*Keehan was the top finisher for the men's team, taking 31st with a time of 30:52.2 on the 10K course, a new PR for the senior captain. His time is the best on the 10K course in Happy Valley since 2014 when Thomas Awad finished third with a time of 30:21.
 
*He was joined by the rest of the Quaker crew with new career marks.
 
*The men's team finished eighth overall out of 26 teams with 237 points.

Stiles and the women's team will await to hear the field for the NCAA DI Championships this weekend, as they look to continue the season in Stillwater, Oklahoma next Saturday, November 19. More information will be announced on www.pennathletics.com as it becomes available.
