PHILADELPHIA – After a 1-0-1 week that pushed its unbeaten streak to 10, the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team moved up one spot in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll to #15, and took over the top spot in the Northeast Region.
Additionally, Penn earned a #22 ranking in the latest
TopDrawerSoccer Poll and the #20 spot in the
College Soccer News poll.
The #16 team in the United Coaches poll last week, Penn played Drexel to 1-1 draw last Tuesday, then knocked off Brown 1-0 on Saturday, moving to 4-0-0 in the Ivy League. Penn took over the top spot in the Northeast by virtue of Vermont's loss at UMBC that ended the Catamounts' 10-match win streak.
The Quakers are 9-0-1 in their last 10 matches with five shutouts and three wins by at least three goals. They're currently fourth in the nation in win percentage (.846) and in the top 10 in goal differential (+24) and goals per match (2.54).
