Women's Tennis' Rutlauka Heads to ITA Super Regional at Yale

Philadelphia – Sabine Rutlauka is set to represent the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Super Regional. The four-day event will be host by and played at Yale beginning on Friday, October 21.

Rutlauka has had a strong fall season going 7-1 in singles play. She posted wins against LIU's Victoria Erechtchenko (6-3, 6-2) and Houston's Maria Dzemeshkevich (6-3, 6-2) to open the season at the Penn Invite. A week later, Rutlauka extended her win streak to four with wins over St. John's Mouna Bouzgarrou (6-3, 6-2) and NJIT's Shivani Ingle (6-1, 6-3). At the Cissie Leary Invitational, she earned wins over Drexel's Lori Lemongo (6-3, 6-1), Temple's Jamie Wei (2-6, 6-1, 6-4), and Richmond's Leonor Oliveira (6-2, 6-0). Her only blemish on her record came at the 2022 ITA All-America Championships where she fell to Vanderbilt's Celia-Belle Mohr in the Round of 64 of the qualifying draw. Mohr defeated Rutlauka in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.

The Latvia native has earned a number three seed and is scheduled to face Fordham's Valeria Demoni 10 a.m. on Friday in the opening round.
