PHILADELPHIA – Penn men's and women's basketball fans have some chances to get a glimpse of the teams over the next few weeks, ahead of the 2022-23 regular season openers which come November 7 (men at Iona) and November 10 (women at Marist).
Both teams will be in action at the annual Red & Blue Scrimmages, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at The Palestra. The Penn women will start the day with their scrimmage at 11 a.m., followed by the men's scrimmage which will start in the 12-12:30 range. Admission is free and fans are welcome to attend.
One week prior to that, at 5 p.m., the men's team will host Daemen University, an NCAA Division II program located in Amherst, N.Y. This is an open exhibition with free admission, so fans are invited to come to The Palestra following the Homecoming football game against Yale (1:00 kickoff) to check out the Quakers against the Wildcats, who went 20-9 last year and finished second in the East Coast Conference with a 16-2 mark. Daemen's head coach is Mike MacDonald whose son, Matt, played for Penn under head coach
Steve Donahue, graduating in 2018.
Penn's first regular-season home games will take place on Sunday, Nov. 13 (men vs. Towson) and Thursday, Nov. 17 (women vs. Villanova).
