PHILADELPHIA – For the second time this season, a pair of University of Pennsylvania sprint football student-athletes earned CSFL weekly honors as sophomore defensive back
Jordan Ortiz was named CSFL Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore
Adrian Montemayor earned CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
In a 9-6 victory over Chestnut Hill last Friday night, Ortiz led the defensive effort with two interceptions, including one that led to the Quakers' game-winning touchdown pass. His two picks are the most by a Penn player since Josh Trybus had a pair against Caldwell on Nov. 2, 2019.
Montemayor had another strong game both on special teams and defense in the victory over the Griffins. He kicked a field goal and had three punts with an average distance of 34.3 yards. On defense, Montemayor had four tackles and his second interception of the season.
Undefeated in CSFL South play at 2-0, the Quakers head to Cornell on Friday night for a 7 p.m. battle with the Big Red. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required) with live stats provided.
