The Series with Yale
• The Quakers lead the overall series, 151-82, and have taken five of the last eight meetings after the Bulldogs won nine in a row from 2013-17.
• Penn also has won four in a row over Yale here at The Palestra—one of those being a 2018 Ivy League Tournament semifinal game—after losing five straight from 2013-17.
• These teams split the series in 2019-20, Penn taking a 69-61 decision at The Palestra before Yale stunned the Quakers with a 76-73, comeback win in New Haven. They were scheduled to meet in an Ivy League Tournament semifinal before the ILT was canceled.
Penn MBB By The Numbers
3 • Three-point baskets made by Penn last Monday at Princeton, tied for a program low in the
Steve Donahue coaching era;
the Quakers pushed an inside game against the Tigers, taking 48 of their 60 shots inside the arc and scoring 48 of their points in the paint.
4 • Consecutive double-figure scoring games by sophomore
Clark Slajchert entering Saturday's contest (19 vs. Cornell, 11 vs. Columbia and Dartmouth, 10 at Princeton).
5 • Different Penn players who have led the team in scoring over the last six games: senior
Jelani Williams, junior
Jonah Charles, sophomores
Slajchert and
Max Martz, and freshman
George Smith;
prior to that, sophomore Jordan Dingle led the Quakers in scoring in 10 of their first 12 games this season.
10 • Penn players who have at least one double-figure scoring game this season entering Saturday's contest.
17 • Games in the
Donahue era in which Penn has put five players in double figures in the scoring column;
the Quakers are 13-4 in those games, the most recent being last Saturday's 78-68 win over Dartmouth.
17.9 • Dingle's overall points-per-game average entering the weekend, second among Ivy League players behind Yale's Azar Swain (19.1);
Dingle has hit double figures in 14 of 17 games this season, with nine points in each of the other three.
26 • Points scored by
Williams last weekend, 13 against both Dartmouth and Princeton;
after hitting double figures in two of Penn's first 12 games, he has three such games over the Quakers' last six.
26 • Steals by Penn over the last three games (8 vs. Columbia, 10 vs. Dartmouth, 8 at Princeton).
67 • Points scored by junior
Michael Moshkovitz over Penn's last six games (11.2 ppg), after he went for just 19 across the Quakers' first 12 games;
in that same four-game span "Mosh" has 32 rebounds and 20 assists.
71 • Points scored by
Smith over the last six games, including four double-digit outings;
he entered the La Salle game with 21 combined points across his first 10 collegiate appearances, and nearly had a double-double Monday at Princeton with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
