PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team finished 12th at the Princeton Invitational, a 54-hole event that concluded on Sunday afternoon at the par-72 Springdale Golf Club near Princeton's campus.
Penn shot 312 in the first and third rounds, sandwiching those scores around a second-round 299 on Saturday afternoon for a three-round score of 923. The host Tigers rolled to the team title with an even-par 864 which had them 15 strokes ahead of second-place Columbia. Among the other Ivies in the field, Yale (885) was fourth, Harvard (899) was seventh, and Dartmouth (906) was ninth.
Senior
Mary Shin led the Quakers on the weekend, shooting the team's low score in each round highlighted by a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday afternoon. Overall, she carded a 3-over-par 219 and finished 10th in a field of 69 golfers who finished the weekend.
Selina Li scored in all three rounds for Penn and shot 229 to tie for 39th overall, while
Debby Chang carded 236 for the weekend and placed 62nd in the field.
Olivia Traynor shot 239 to finish 64th.
Leila Dizon was in the field as an individual and shot 74-79-74—227 to tied for 32nd overall.
Albany's Amber Thornton was the individual medalist, shooting a 6-under-par 210 which was highlighted by her 6-under-par 66 on Saturday afternoon. Thornton finished two strokes ahead of Princeton Tiffany Kong and five ahead of another Tiger, Yu Kyung Kim.
Penn returns to action in two weeks when the Quakers take on the famed Course at Yale for the Yale Fall Intercollegiate on October 9-10.
