*Senior Mia Shenk led the way offensively by scoring Penn's first three goals for the natural hat trick. They were her third, fourth and fifth of the season.

*Shenk's hat trick was the 15th in program history and the first since Clara Midgley scored three goals against NJIT in the 2011 season.

*Shenk's first and second goals were scored just 33 seconds apart. On the list of least time between goals, that would be second only behind Nov. 1, 2000 when Ayla Gustafson scored two goals 25 seconds apart against Lehigh.

*Freshman Janae Stewart had Penn's other goal, the first of her collegiate career.

*Penn has now had seven different goal scorers already this season.

*Five different players had assists on Sunday: Lauren Teuschl, Abbey Duncan, Lucy Kellogg, Peyton Raun and Sizzy Lawton.

*At the other end, sophomore Laurence Gladu had four saves in collecting her second shutout of the season.

How It Happened
It was the Mia Shenk Show in the first half Sunday at Rhodes, as she scored her three goals in a span of 19:31 during the first half.

The first goal came right after a Lauren Teuschl free kick was pushed over the bar by GW goalkeeper Tamaki Machi for a corner kick. Teuschl sent the corner to the far post, where Shenk was waiting. She rose above her defender and headed the ball back across the goalmouth inside the far post for the lead.
Just 33 seconds later, Shenk doubled her fun. The Quakers pinned the GW defense deep with the ball, and when Abbey Duncan stole it and passed to Shenk the senior easily pushed it past Machi and into the goal.
The third goal came in a more direct route. Junior sweeper Peyton Raun played a long ball from the back that Lucy Kellogg one-timed into Shenk's path in front. She was able to handle the bouncing ball and push it past Machi's right into the goal.
Stewart joined the goal parade in the 57th minute. Following a nice sequence of passing, Duncan fed Sizzy Lawton near the top of the box and the junior uncorked a blast that beat new GW keeper Erica Lorenzana and rang off the crossbar. Stewart was waiting for the rebound and did a nice job of controlling her left-footed volley over a leaping Lorenzana but under the bar.
Up Next
Penn is back at home two more times next weekend, hosting city rival Villanova on Thursday at 6 p.m. and then Rice on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
