Football Announces 2021 Captains

PHILADELPHIA – During the team's annual media day, George A. Munger Head Coach of Football Ray Priore announced the captains for the 2021 season. As is the tradition, the Red and Blue selected their leadership based on a team vote.

The five Quakers chosen as team captains are Brian O'Neill, Jake Heimlicher, Isaiah Malcome, Trevor Radosevich, and Price Emili.

The 2021 Penn football season opens on Saturday, September 18, on the road against Bucknell. The Quakers and Bison are playing for the first time since 2018 and it will mark just the second meeting between the two teams since 2010.

Brian O'Neill was a 2019 second team All-Ivy honoree and he anchors an impressive group of returners on the defensive side of the ball. He is a two-year starter that has appeared in all 30 games over Penn's last three seasons of action. O'Neill had a team-leading three INTs in 2019 and he finished that season with 58 tackles, including 12.5 TFLs. As a junior, he recorded four sacks and recovered one fumble. He ranked fifth in the Ivy League in TFLs and second in INTs in 2019.

Jake Heimlicher is one of the veterans will lead a young core of hungry linemen looking to make an impact in 2021. In 2019, he appeared in all 10 games at linebacker for the Quakers. He finished with 14 tackles, including 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sacks.

Isaiah Malcome is returning for his fifth-year with the program after seeing his 2019 season ended after just one game due to an injury. In his lone appearance during that campaign Malcome put on a show, rushing for 73 yards on nine carries, catching a one-yard TD and returning a punt 69 yards for a score late in the fourth quarter. He has appeared in 21 games and is averaging over eight yards per carry and 12 yards per punt return.

Trevor Radosevich was the starting center for the Quakers in 21019 and he helped anchor an offensive line that was second in the Ivy League and ranked No. 31 among all FCS teams in sacks allowed-per-game (1.6).

Emili was a 2019 First-Team All-Ivy selection after finishing with 65 tackles, including a team-high 14.0 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. He looks to wreak havoc up front after ranking second in the Ivy League in TFL and had a team-high seven QBH as a junior. Morris had 13 tackles with 1.5 TFLs and 0.5 sacks, while Heimlicher racked up 14 tackles, including 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sacks.
