PHILADELPHIA – Add another Olympian to the University of Pennsylvania ledger for the Games that are underway in Tokyo.
Katina Proestakis, who will be a freshman at Penn this fall, is competing in the women's individual foil tournament for Chile as part of the fencing competition. She is one of just two Olympic athletes who will be on campus as undergrads this fall along with Keanan Dols (men's swimming), and she is joined at the fencing competition by alum Shaul Gordon (Canada, men's sabre) and rising sophomore Blake Broszus (Canada, men's foil alternate). They are joined by alums Dara Alizadeh (men's rowing), Connie Hsu (women's tennis), Sam Mattis (men's track & field) and Regina Salmons (women's rowing) at the Games.
The Olympic Games are underway and will continue through August 8, with
fencing scheduled to run from July 24-August 1. The women's individual foil competition is slated to run all day on Sunday, July 25.
