Men's Squash Announces Class of 2025

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania head men's squash coach Gilly Lane has announced his program's Class of 2025 recruiting class. Shaam Gambhir, Oliver Green and Nathan Kueh will join the program next fall as freshmen.
 
"We are extremely excited to welcome three talented student-athletes into the Penn Squash family," said Lane, who has been the program's head coach since 2016. "The program has a rich history and tradition, and I have no doubt that these three will help us write the next chapters. They will contribute each season as we work toward accomplishing our goals both as a team and as a program overall. Shaam, Oliver and Nathan bring a wealth of international squash experience, having competed for their respective countries at the top junior levels. They will bring depth to an already talented team and add to the quality we hope to boast in the 2021-22 season."
 
SHAAM GAMBHIR
Wayne, Pa. | Episcopal Academy
High School: Ranked No. 1 USA squash player at U-13, U-15 and U-17 … Earned his No. 1 ranking in U-17 at age 15, and in U-19 at age 17 … Has represented the USA at the Dunlop British Junior Open three times … Represented USA in the Battle of the Borders competition with Canada … Has won six junior tournaments during his career including the Boys' U-17 title at the Mid-Atlantic Championships at age 15 … 2018 Sportsmanship Award recipient … Two-time All-America recognition … Played No. 1 for Episcopal Academy when EA made the High School Nationals final in 2020 … Played No. 2 for EA when they won the Inter-Ac team title in 2019 … Two-time recipient of EA's Benjamin Rannan Reath IV Memorial Squash Award.
 
Personal: Son of Vibha and Anshul Gambhir … Will enroll in the Wharton School of Business.

High School: Finalist in the English Junior Championships (boys' under-17) in 2020 … Won the Men's County championship for Essex in 2020 … Took third at the British Junior Championships (boys' u-17) and fifth at the USA Junior Open (boys' u-17) in 2019 … English national champion (boys' u-15) in 2018 … Also won the German Junior Open (boys' u-15) and took third at the British Junior Championships (boys' u-15) in 2018 … Also competed in cross country, track & field, tennis, table tennis, and badminton … Nominee for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2018 … Student of the Year Award recipient … Outstanding Achievement.
 
Personal: Son of Joanne McGowan and Graham Green … Older sister, Alice, has played squash professionally since 2019 … Will enroll in the College of Arts and Sciences.

High School: Won titles at the 2019 Asian Junior Individual Championships and the State Interschool Competition … That same year, won gold at the Arafura Games Doubles event … In 2018, won individual championships on the National Junior Circuit and the Borneo Junior Open … Won a team silver medal at the 2018 Sukan Malaysian (Sukma) Games … Singapore Junior Open individual champion in 2017 … Won team gold at the 2017 National Interschool Competition … Malaysia's Player of the Month (June 2019) … Top 1-Percent Athlete Award recipient in 2018 … Best Student of the Year (2019) … Head Prefect (2018-19) … School Goodwill Visit Organizing chairman … Joined community service in rural areas to help Malaysia's indigenous people.
 
Personal: Son of Pauline Ho and Chie Tiong Kueh … Older brother, Martin, also a state-leve squash player … Will enroll in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
