PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight crew put out a full fleet of boats at Sunday's Princeton Chase. The three-mile, time-trial event was the final racing of the fall for the Quakers.
Men's Heavyweight Eights
Penn put three boats out in this group of 40, with the "B" boat putting together the best time among the trio at 13:08.642. That had them 11th overall. The Quakers' "A" boat was right behind them time-wise, finishing 12th overall in 13:10.925. Penn's "C" boat clocked 13:39.993 and was 26th overall. Princeton's "A" had the best time in the group, clocking 12:26.673 which was just ahead of the Syracuse "A" (12:26.983).
Men's Eights Round 2
Penn had a pair of boats in this mixed heavyweight/lightweight division of 13. The Quakers' top heavy was second in the field in 13:00.852, behind only Wisconsin (12:51.391). The Red and Blue's other heavyweight boat in this division was ninth, clocking 14:01.831.
Men's Fours
This was another division that mixed heavyweights and lightweights together, a total of 30 boats competing in the division. Penn's top heavyweight boat clocked 15:05.840, while the second boat was timed in 15:08.325 and the third boat finished in 16:29.853. Syracuse was the winner of this group, finishing with a time that was a little more than a second better than Princeton.
