Women’s Squash Picks Up Top-15 Wins Over Stanford and Williams

PHILADELPHIA – The ninth-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's squash team picked up a pair of top-15 wins on Saturday from the Penn Squash Center, knocking off #10 Stanford, 6-3 and #12 Williams, 8-1.

In the first match of the day against the Cardinal, Penelope Oh and Amina Abou El Enin each picked up 3-0 wins with Oh dropping just six points total across the three games, getting the Quakers two points in the early crop of matches. Avni Anand picked up a 3-0 win, as did Euwie Park, who bounced back from a five-game loss last night. Ashley Manning fell in five games, but not before rallying from a 9-7 fourth game deficit to push it to a fifth. Navmi Sharma picked up the final victory of the match for the Quakers, who picked up their final point with a Stanford forfeit at the #9 spot. Ashley Manning and Jamila Abou El Enin both fell in five games, while Yoshna Singh dropped a three-game match.

In the nightcap against the Ephs, Singh, Amina El Enin and Rorke got the Quakers off to a fast start with three 3-0 wins, as one of the nine games between their matches ended closer than 11-6. Anand, Manning and Emma Wolf continued the hot start, putting the match away with three more 3-0 wins, Anand picking up her third win of the weekend in the process. In the final crop of matches, Oh picked up Penn's seventh 3-0 win of the night while Jamila El Enin fell in four games, denying the Quakers the sweep. As was the case with Stanford, the Quakers picked up their final point with a Williams forfeit out of the #9 spot.

The Quakers wrap their second straight four-match weekend with a 10 a.m. start tomorrow against #15 Bates from the Squash Center.
