Colaiocco Wins at 133 Pounds in Penn Wrestling's 2021-22 Debut

MANHIEM, Pa. – Michael Colaiocco took home the Hammer Award at 133 pounds in Penn Wrestling's return to the mat. The Quakers opened the 2021-22 season at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on Sunday. The one-day event took place at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pa.

Colaiocco won all three of his bouts to claim the Hammer Award at 133 pounds. The championship bout for the 133-pound title featured two nationally ranked wrestlers. Colaiocco is ninth-ranked while his opponent Devan Turner from Oregon State is ranked 19th in the nation. The sophomore from New Jersey won 4-0.

Kelly Dunnigan began the season with a win for the Quakers. Competing in the B pool, he went 1-1 in round robin competition before defeating LIU's Bryce Cockrell 11-1 for third place.

Ryan Miller placed at 125 pounds. He opened his season winning by decision over Bloomsburg's Shawn Orem, 8-2. After advancing to the third round on a bye he would fall to Lehigh's Jaret Lane. In the third-place bout he won 10-4 against Lehigh's Carter Bailey.
