Women's Squash Sweeps Both Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall

PHILADELPHIA – College Squash Association's (CAS's) eighth-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's squash team concluded the 2021-22 opening weekend of competition with a pair of sweeps of #17 Dickinson and #18 Franklin and Marshall at the Penn Squash Center on Sunday.

In the morning session against the Red Devils, Emma Wolf claimed the first point of the day, winning 3-0. Navmi Sharma and Kelsey Abbrecht followed with 3-0 wins of their own. Playing out of the #1 spot for the second time in less than 24 hours, Jamila Abou El Enin fell behind 2-1, but won 22 of 31 points between the fourth and fifth games to secure the 3-2 win. With the Quakers in position to clinch the match, Elizabeth Weise made quick work of her 3-0 win, capping her match (and the win) with a bagel in the third game.

Amina Abou El Enin, Avni Anand, Grace Lavin, and Penelope Oh each posted 3-0 wins to close out the first sweep of the day

In the afternoon against the Diplomats, Wolf again claimed the first point of the match with another 3-0 win. Euwie Park and Yoshna Singh (playing out of the #1 spot) followed with 3-0 wins just seconds apart. After the younger of the Abou El Anin sisters made it 4-0 in favor of the Quakers, Oh clinched the win just seconds later.

Abbie Rorke, Ashley Manning, Emma Carter, and Ella Cohen closed out the match as the women won all nine afternoon matches without dropping a single game.

The Quakers return to action with four more matches over three days from the Penn Squash Center starting next Friday with a 5 p.m. first serve against Virginia.
