Football's Garrett Morris Named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior LB of the University of Pennsylvania football team was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Morris picked up weekly accolades from the Ivy League for the first time in his career and he becomes the first Quaker since Brian O'Neill in November of 2019 to be tabbed as the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.

He played a pivotal role in Penn's 45-17 win over Brown on Saturday afternoon, making six total tackles, one TFL and returning an interception for a touchdown. Four of his tackles were solo stops and he also added a QBH.

Morris became the first Quaker to return an interception for a touchdown since Nick Miller in October of 2017 against Columbia.

He was also honored as the College Sports Madness Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday morning.

Penn will celebrate Homecoming on November 6 with an afternoon matinee against Cornell. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. as the Quakers look to retain the Trustees' Cup.
