Volpenhein Named to National Rowing Foundation Hall of Fame

PHILADELPHIA – The National Rowing Foundation has announced the 2021 National Rowing Hall of Fame inductees and the list includes current University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight head coach Bryan Volpenhein. The announcement was made on October 1 via the row2k.com website.
 
Volpenhein is being inducted as an "Outstanding Athlete" along with Christine Smith Collins. They will join the 1984 Olympic Men's Eight (Outstanding Crew) and the late Igor Grinko (Outstanding Coach) as this year's inductees.
 
The induction ceremony will occur at the National Rowing Foundation National Team Reunion which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. during the Head of the Charles Regatta weekend.
 
From the National Rowing Foundation:
Bryan Volpenhein was a member of ten United States National Rowing Teams from 1998 through 2008. He competed at eight World Championships winning five medals of which three were Gold. He also competed at three Olympic Games and won a Gold Medal in 2004 and a Bronze Medal in 2008 rowing both times in the stroke seat in the US National Eight-Oared boat.
