Heavyweights Have Several Top-10 Finishes at HOSR

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight crew rowed seven boats on Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta—two eights each in the Championship and Club Championship, and three fours in the Championship.
 
The annual head-style, time-trial event covered a three-mile course on the Schuylkill.
 
Championship Fours
Penn had three boats in this 34-boat division, the Quakers' B boat finishing with the best time among the three at 12:36.947. That had them fifth overall, behind a trio of Dartmouth boats and a Columbia boat. Penn's A boat was tenth overall in 13:01.119 while the Quakers' C boat was 18th in 13:27.451.
 
Club Championship Eights
Penn had two boats among the 36 in this field, with the Quakers' A boat placing eighth and the B boat taking tenth. The A boat's time across the Schuylkill course was 11:35.061 while the B was clocked in 11:41.714. Dartmouth swept the top two spots here.
 
Championship Eights
Penn had two boats among the 23 in this field, and both had top-10 finishes. The Quakers' A boat was clocked in 10:48.443 to finish with the fourth-best time behind Dartmouth A (10:26.872), Dartmouth B (10:37.806), and Drexel (10:43.203). Penn's B boat was ninth in 11:07.316, a little more than two seconds behind eighth-place George Washington.
 
Up Next
Penn is scheduled to close out the fall portion of its season next Sunday when the Quakers compete at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.
