The Penn-Brown Series (89th meeting)
Saturday's game will mark the 89th meeting between the Quakers and the Bears. Penn and Brown first met back in October of 1895. Penn has won five straight games in the series and George A. Munger Head Coach of Football
Ray Priore has never lost to the Bears.

Looking Back on the 2019 Meeting
Daniel Karrash hit a 22-yard field goal with two seconds left in the fourth quarter to cap a thrilling, 38-36 come-from-behind win for the Quakers at Franklin Field. Despite being outscored, 14-3, over the final 15 minutes, Penn held on for the Ivy League win.
Ryan Cragun had 11 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown and
Rory Starkey, Jr. hauled in five passes for 76 yards and a TD. Defensively,
Brian O'Neill had a career day, totaling six tackles, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery for a score.
Â
A Look at Brown
Brown is 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the Ivy League after beating Cornell last weekend, 49-45. The Bears rank third in the Ivy League in scoring offense thanks to putting up more than 32 points per game. Senior QB EJ Perry leads the Ivy League in passing with 1,953 yards through the air and 17 TDs. Perry has also run for 232 yards and four scores. Defensively, Brown is giving up the most points in the Ancient Eight this season with opponents scoring more than 40 points per contest. Â
Â
On A Roll
Senior RB
Isaiah Malcome has been on a tear of late for the Quakers. He has scored a rushing TD in four straight games for the Red and Blue. Last Saturday at Yale, he rushed for 81 yards and a score. Malcome also caught two passes for eight yards and a TD versus the Bulldogs. On the year, Malcome has racked up 505 yards on the ground and he's averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
Â
Drive Starter
Senior kick returner
Owen Goldsberry averaged more than 40 yards on kick returns on Saturday at Yale. He had a career-best return of 70 yards in the third quarter which led to a Penn touchdown. He leads the Ivy League with more than 30 yards per return in 2021. Goldsberry also hauled in his first career TD reception on Saturday.
Â
Major Milestone
Senior WR
Ryan Cragun became the 21st player in program history to record 1,000 career receiving yards earlier this season at Lafayette. He reached the milestone in just 11 games played. This season, Cragun has caught 27 passes for 398 yards and a touchdown. He is currently tied for 11th in program history with 1,283 receiving yards, and with 94 more yards he'll move into the top 10. Cragun also has 85 career receptions and he's looking to become just the 12th Quaker to have 100 career catches.
Â
Thunder & Lightning
Running backs
Isaiah Malcome and
Trey Flowers both scored a rushing TD last week at Yale. It marked the second game this fall in which both players found paydirt. They've combined for 760 rushing yards and eight TDs in 2021. In Penn's 20-0 win over Lehigh, both Malcome (201 yards) and Flowers (115 yards) eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground. They were the first Quaker teammates to do so since Abe Willows and Tre Solomon did it against Princeton in 2017.
Â
Strong Debut
QB
Aidan Sayin saw his first collegiate action for the Quakers against Yale, becoming the first freshman signal caller to see time under center for Penn since Alek Torgersen in November of 2013. Sayin was 12-of-28 passing for 114 yards and a pair of TDs. His TD pass in the third quarter to
Owen Goldsberry was the first scoring play through the air for the Quakers since the season opener at Bucknell.
Â
A Penn Win on Saturday Would…
… be Penn's 63rd against Brown
... be Penn's sixth in a row versus the Bears
... be Penn's first Ivy League win in 714 days
... be Penn's second straight at Franklin Field
