The Series with Dartmouth

Saturday's meeting between the Quakers and the Big Green will be the 31st match in the series history. Dartmouth holds a slight advantage in the all-time series, 15-11-4. However, the Quakers are on a three-match win streak. The last meeting between the two teams saw Penn take a 1-0 win at Rhodes in 2019. Sizzy Lawton found the back of the net in the 11th minute giving the home team the victory.

About Dartmouth

Dartmouth enters Saturday's match off a win against Yale last week. The 2-1 victory ended a four-match losing streak for the Big Green. Prior to that, Dartmouth opened the season 4-0-1, with its only draw coming to then-No. 4 Georgetown. Last time out, the Big Green picked up a 2-1 win at Yale. Hannah Curtin scored both goals for Dartmouth. Her first goal came at the 7:31 mark but Yale tied the match just 17 seconds later. The match stayed tied until a Curtin header off a cross from the right side in the 88th minute found the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Thanks to her two-goal performance, Curtin was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She leads the Big Green offense and is one of two players with double-digit points (13), Allie Winstanley is the other with 11 points (3g,5a). Dasa Hase has a pair of goals making her the only other player with multiple goals on the season. Four others have also tallied a goal in 2021. Dartmouth returns two of its four All-Ivy selections from 2019 in Erin Kawakami and Winstanley.

The Series with Delaware State

The Quakers have had the Hornets' number as they own the all-time series 4-0-0. The teams last met in 2019 with Penn taking a 2-0 decision. Allie Schachter assisted on both goals. Her first assist led to the game-winning goal as she sent a ball to Mia Shenk to give the Quakers a 1-0 advantage in the 13th minute. Schachter's second assist came off a free kick as she sent a ball to McRae Fried who found the back of the net in 69th minute.

About Delaware State

The Hornets enter Monday's match coming off a 2-1 win at South Carolina State. They opened the season by losing their first seven matches but they are 2-3-0 in their past five. Savannah Ay, Gabriela Cabrera, Jada Lee, Mary O'Conner, and Lynette Urena all have scored goals on the season.

Quaker Notemeal

*Penn remains perfect at Rhodes Field under head coach Casey Brown, in her first season coaching the Quakers. The Red and Blue have taken 18 points from 18, going 6-0-0.

*Last time out, the Quakers were on the wrong end of a 2-0 contest at Columbia. The Lions needed just a four-minute span early in the second half to score both goals. The first came off a penalty kick.

* Sophomore goalkeeper Laurence Gladu made seven saves in the loss. It was just the second match this season that she recorded seven or more saves in 2021. She currently leads the Ivy League with 54 saves this season.

*Senior Mia Shenk leads the Quakers offense with five goals but is two points behind sophomore Lauren Teuschl, who has three goals and six assists. Lawton is third on the team with seven points while freshman Janae Stewart has six points (2g,2a) and senior Jackie Bruder has two goals.

*Penn's other goal scorers this season are Abbey Duncan (at Maryland), junior Emily Pringle (Cornell), sophomores Madison Liebman (at Hofstra) and Ginger Fontenot (at Temple), and freshman Paige Kenton (Cornell).

*Penn named three captains for the 2021 season prior to the opener. Senior JoJo Cotto and juniors Pringle and Peyton Raun lead the Quakers.

*Raun is one of two players who received honorable mention All-Ivy recognition in 2019, the other being Lawton.

*A reminder that the four-year seniors on the team—Bruder, Cotto, Duncan, Shenk, Lucy Kellogg and Allie Schachter—were members of Penn's last Ivy League championship squad, in 2018.

*If you cross paths with Penn assistant coach Becky Edwards, congratulate her on the August 18 announcement that she will be inducted into the Florida State University Athletics Hall of Fame later this year.
