It is Week Five for the #UPrising! This week, the Quakers travel to the Big Apple for a Saturday afternoon matinee against former Penn head coach Al Bagnoli and the Columbia Lions. The two teams are playing for the 100th time with Penn winning 75 of those contests. The Red and Blue have won eight of the last ten games against Columbia. Penn is looking to avenge a 2019 setback to the Lions in the Empire State.

The Penn-Columbia Series (100th meeting)
Saturday's game will mark the 100th meeting between the Quakers and the Lions. Penn and Columbia first met back in November of 1878. Penn has won 75 of the 99 contests and the two squads played to a scoreless tie in their first-ever meeting.

Looking Back on the 2019 Meeting
Columbia forced three Penn turnovers and rack up more than 400 yards of total offense en route to a 44-6 victory. Penn's lone score came from the defense as the Red and Blue returned a Lion fumble 50 yards for a TD. Penn picked off two Columbia passes on the day with Brian O'Neill and Kendren Smith creating turnovers. Prince Emili had 13 total tackles for the Quakers and the duo of Ryan Cragun and Rory Starkey, Jr. combined to catch nine passes for 111 yards.

A Look at Columbia
Columbia is 3-1 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League play entering Saturday's game. The Lions scored a hard-fought 22-20 victory over Central Connecticut State last week on the road. On Monday, Cam Dillon was named both the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week and the Stats Perform National Defensive Player of the Week after setting the Columbia single-game record for sacks with 5.5 against CCSU. He finished the day with eight total tackles, 5.5 sacks for 47 yards, 5.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a safety.

Weekly Honors
Running back Isaiah Malcome was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Malcome ran for 201 yards and scored a TD in Penn's 20-0 victory over Lehigh last Saturday. He also caught five passes for 26 yards. In total, Malcome had 26 touches on offense for 227 yards. He became the first Penn player to earn weekly honors from the Ivy league this season and he's the first Quaker to be tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week since KK Brooks in October of 2018.

Malcome's Big Day
Malcome's 201 rushing yards versus Lehigh were the most by a player in the Ivy League this season as were his 228 all-purpose yards. His performance versus the Mountain Hawks marked the 15th time in program history that a Quaker has rushed for over 200 yards in a game.

It's Been A While…
The Quakers defeated Lehigh, 20-0, last Saturday at Franklin Field. It was Penn's first shutout since the 2009 team capped a perfect Ivy League season with a 34-0 win over Cornell. The Quakers held the Mountain Hawks negative three (-3) net rushing yards. It was the fewest rushing yards allowed for the Red and Blue under head coach Ray Priore and the fewest the team has surrendered since holding Cornell to negative seven (-7) yards on the ground in November of 2011.

Two-Headed Rushing Attack
The running back tandem of Isaiah Malcome (201 yards) and Trey Flowers (115) combined for 316 yards of rushing against Lehigh. It marked the first time Penn had a pair of 100-yard rushers in the same game since Abe Willows and Tre Solomon did it against Princeton in 2017. It was also the first 100-yard rushing performance for both Malcome and Flowers.

Major Milestone
Senior WR Ryan Cragun become the 21st player in program history to record 1,000 career receiving yards. He reached the milestone in just 11 games played. This season, he has caught 20 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown. He is currently 14th in program history with 1,193 receiving yards, and with 181 more yards he'll move into the top-10.

Dynamic Duo
Senior WRs Rory Starkey, Jr. and Ryan Cragun had big games at Bucknell in the season opener. Starkey caught two passes for 113 yards, highlighted by a 70-yard TD grab, while Cragun hauled in six passes for 110 yards and a 44-yard TD reception. It was the first time since November 11, 2016, that two Quaker wideouts had over 100 yards receiving in a game. In that contest, Justin Watson had 10 catches for 120 yards and a TD, while Christian Pearson caught 7 for 101 and a TD in a 27-14 victory over #22 Harvard.

Where We Rank
che Penn defense ranks in the top-10 in the country in eight different categories. The Quakers are second in red-zone defense, second in fewest first down allowed, second in passing yards allowed, third in team passing efficiency defense, sixth in fourth-down percentage defense, eighth in team sacks, eighth in total defense and 10th in scoring defense.

Drive Starter
Senior Owen Goldsberry leads the Ivy League in kick return average at 26.2 yards. His season long for a return is 38 yards which he has done twice, first at Lafayette and most recently against Lehigh last Saturday.

Second-Half Surge
Penn scored all 20 of its points against Lehigh in the second half. Under Ray Priore, Penn is 28-1 when leading after three quarters. This season, the Quakers are outscoring opponents, 41-21, in the second half.

Let's Kick It
Senior kicker Daniel Karrash had a strong start to the 2021 season at Bucknell. Karrash was 3-of-3 on FGs and 3-of-3 on PATs. He connected on kicks of 20, 24 and 32-yards. Karrash accounted for a career-high 12 points in the 30-6 win over Bucknell.

A Penn Win on Saturday Would…
… be Penn's 76th against Columbia
... be Penn's first at Columbia since 2015
... be Penn's first Ivy League win in 700 days
... be Penn's second on the road in 2021
