Evanchick & Goldner Selected in the 2020 MLL Draft

BOSTON – Two members of the University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team were selected in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft on Monday evening.

Senior defender Mark Evanchick was the ninth overall pick. With the third selection of the second round, Evanchick was selected by the Philadelphia Barrage. Classmate Adam Goldner was also picked by the Barrage in the eighth round.

Evanchick, a two-time All-American, and Goldner, a 2019 All-American, became the 13th and 14th players in program history to be taken in the MLL Draft. Evanchick was just the second Quaker to be picked in the first two rounds.

Penn has now had five players drafted in the last three years.

Evanchick started all five games on defense for the Quakers in 2020. He finished the truncated season with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. In April, he was named a 2020 Maverik Media All-American by Inside Lacrosse. Evanchick started 37 games in his career for the Quakers on defense. In 39 appearances over the last four springs, he racked up 36 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers. As a junior, he was honored as a Third-team USILA All-America, First-team All-Ivy and First-team ECAC All-Star.

Goldner had a record-breaking career for the Penn men's lacrosse team. Earlier this spring, he became just the sixth player in program history to score 100 career goals. In 2020, he scored 11 goals and racked up five assists for 16 points. He is currently, fifth in Penn history with 106 goals and 13th in points with 126. As a junior, he was an Honorable mention USILA All-America, Second-team All-Ivy, Ivy League Tournament All-Tournament Team selection, Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area honoree and he also set program record for goals in a season with 56.
