Wrestling's Artalona Sidelined for Remainder of 2019-20 Season

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania head wrestling coach, Roger Reina, has announced that Anthony Artalona will miss the EIWA Championships due to an injury.

"Anthony is a champion at heart, but the decision has been made to not enter him into this weekend's EIWA Championships," said Reina. "Certainly, as a defending EIWA Champion, Anthony wanted to compete and move on to NCAAs, but having done everything we could to give him that shot it was simply not in the cards at this time."

Artalona was the EIWA champion at 149 pounds and a NCAA Championships qualifier last season. At the Championships in Pittsburgh, he won three matches to advance to the round of 12 before a narrow, 6-5 defeat dealt a blood-round exit. Artalona ends his sophomore campaign with a 14-6 record and a sixth-place finish at the Midlands Championships to add to his already impressive resume.
