NEW YORK – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team wrapped up its run in the ECAC Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Harvard on Sunday afternoon in the third-place match.
Iuliia Bryzgalova once again was victorious at the No. 1 singles spot, capping an undefeated weekend in singles play. Bryzgalova, the 11th-ranked player in the country, won easily, 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles, the sophomore teamed up with Marija Curnic and the pair held a 5-2 lead at No. 1 before the Crimson secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3.
Harvard sealed the win with victories in singles at Nos. 3, 4 and 5. The match was a lot closer than 4-1, though, as Ashley Zhu was leading 7-6, 3-1 at No. 2 and Clarise Huang was level at 1-1 in the third set.
