Series History
Penn leads the Blue Jays 7-6 in the all-time series, including last season's 11-10 overtime victory in Baltimore. In last year's meeting, there were six ties and seven lead changes, but the Quakers trailed by a pair of goals in the second half before ripping off three consecutive goals – two from Zoe Belodeau and one from Gabby Rosenzweig – to take the lead at 10-9 with under seven minutes left. Hopkins eventually leveled the game in the final minute before Erin Barry scored the game winner in the overtime period.
Last Time Out: W, 17-6 Georgetown (Feb. 15, 2020)
- Penn hit the Hoyas with a flurry in the first half, ripping off seven consecutive goals and taking control of the game. The Quakers defense locked down Georgetown, holding it scoreless for the first 28:18 and allowing only seven first-half shots.
- Abby Bosco powered the motor defensively, garnering Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors with six ground balls and six caused turnovers.
- Georgetown showed its mettle in the second half, closing within 9-6 before the Red and Blue ripped off eight straight goals over the final 12 minutes to burst away from the Hoyas and seal the 17-6 victory.
- Rosenzweig was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week thanks to her three goals and five assists.
- Krissy Kowalski started in net and made 12 saves while conceding just six goals.
Simply The Best
After a barnstorming senior season opener, Rosenzweig is just four points from tying the all-time program record in points and only seven assists from that record. The senior attacker lit up 19th-ranked Georgetown for three goals and five assists last weekend to raise her career total to 233 career points, closing in Sherry Marcantonio's record from 1980-83. Rosenzweig is up to 120 career assists, seven behind Nina Corcoran's (2013-16) record.
This comes after Rosenzweig she set the single season record for points (98) and assists (63) in 2018.
Great Expectations
The 2020 campaign begins with Penn ranked in multiple national polls. The Quakers enter the weekend ranked No. 12 in the IWLCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, No. 9 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Top-20, and No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll.
National Notoriety
Rosenzweig and Barry enter their senior years with plenty watching. The pair both earned preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse, including a third-team selection for Rosenzweig and an honorable mention honor for Barry. Both also landed on the Tewaaraton Award watch list, the third time for Rosenzweig, who has been in the award's final 25 each of the past two seasons, and the second time for Barry.
All-Ivy Returners
Penn returns seven of its eight All-Ivy selections in 2019, including unanimous first-team selections Barry, Rosenzweig, and fellow first-team selection Zoe Belodeau. Second-team selections Chelsea Kibler, Abby Bosco, and Mikaila Cheeseman, as well as honorable mention Michaela McMahon round out the seven.
