PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's men's tennis team (2-1) turned in a dominant performance, taking down Michigan State (3-2), 7-0. The second consecutive sweep by the Red and Blue marks the first time that has been accomplished since the 2017-18 season.
For the first time this season, the Quakers were able to sweep through every doubles match, with
Kevin Zhu and
Zach Smith setting the tone with a strong 6-3 win. With the doubles point in hand,
Aditya Gupta and
Harsh Parikh didn't let up, winning a thrilling tiebreaker to pad the doubles resume.
In singles, Zhu kept up the momentum from his come from behind victory against Navy last weekend. He won the first set of the match at 6-2 and never looked back, blitzing his opponent. Several other Quakers recorded gritty victories to aid the rout, including
Edoardo Graziani, who went back and forth with his opponent, John Carlin, in both doubles and singles all day, with Graziani coming out on top in straight sets.
