Men's Squash Hosts #15 Brown, #8 Yale in Busy Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's men's squash team (8-2, 2-1) continues the final homestand of the season in a weekend packed with high-level squash. The men will host #15 Brown (4-4, 0-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m. and conclude the weekend with a match against #8 Yale (8-3, 3-0) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Previewing Penn
Fresh off a big 7-2 victory over #4 Princeton, the Quakers enter the weekend looking to secure their ranking as they enter the Potter Cup, facing off against two teams they beat last season in Brown and Yale. At #3 in the country and having faced every top-five team, the Quaker men will look to build a compelling resume in advance of the Potter Cup.

Sophomore Aly Abou Eleinen is getting hot at the right time and is starting to roll over some of the very best in college squash. Abou Eleinen has now won his last three matches, including back-to-back 3-0 victories over #2 Trinity and #4 Princeton. His next step will be to continue his success against both Yale and Brown, who he went 3-0 against last season and helped the Quakers snap a decade long drought in New Haven against Yale.

Meanwhile, Yash Bhargava and Saksham Choudhary continue to provide critical victories for the Quakers in clutch moments. Bhargava has won back-to-back 3-2 matches, making him 3-0 in five-game matches this season. Choudhary is now 10-0, needing just two more victories to match Abou Eleinen's 12-0 start last season.

Previewing the Bears
At 4-4 with no Ivy League victories in three attempts, the picture appears bleak for the Bears on the surface. Dig deeper and you realize the Bears are turning a corner. Brown has won two straight matches over #20 Amherst and #21 Middlebury and in their last loss, they took #9 Virginia down to the wire, falling in a thrilling 5-4 decision on January 15. This young Bears lineup is led by junior Maximo Moyer and sophomore Grant Sterman, two Pennsylvania natives who will be motivated for a return home to face the rising Quakers.

Previewing the Bulldogs
Yale enters a critical stretch as they are among several teams aiming for the final few spots in the Potter Cup chase. At #8 in the country, Yale has several signature victories, including over the current #9 Virginia and #11 Columbia and will now enter a daunting stretch in which they play #1 Harvard, #3 Penn, #4 Princeton and #7 Dartmouth. One of the most impressive players for the Bulldogs is freshman Siow Yee Xian, who has played in the No. 2 position in the lineup this season and earned several amazing victories, including the only point against Trinity.
